1. Medical Disclaimer and Emergency Services

Cathexis is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

• No treatment claims. The App is a general wellness tool intended for relaxation and stress management. It is not intended to treat, cure, or prevent Panic Disorder, PTSD, or any clinical condition.
• Emergency protocol. If you are experiencing a medical emergency (e.g., symptoms that could indicate a heart attack or other life-threatening condition), you must immediately call 911 (US), 999 (UK), or 112 (EU) or your local emergency number.
• No professional relationship. Use of the App does not create a doctor–patient or therapist–client relationship.
• Consult professionals. The App is not a replacement for professional mental or medical care. Always consult qualified healthcare or mental health professionals for diagnosis and treatment.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years of age to use the App.
• We do not collect or store your age or date of birth. By using the App, you represent that you meet the minimum age requirement.

3. Usage and Fees

Free tier

Cathexis is free to download. Core features—including breathing exercises, grounding (e.g., 5-4-3-2-1), truth cards, journal, attack log, sleep sounds, calm bubbles, and other wellness tools—are available without payment.

Premium (Cathexis Pro)

We offer an optional premium subscription (“Cathexis Pro”) that unlocks additional features, such as custom themes, alternate app icons, advanced customization (e.g., icon packs, color schemes), and other Pro-only features. Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed by RevenueCat. Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are governed by the applicable store’s policies. You may cancel or manage your subscription in your device’s subscription settings.

No advertisements

The App is provided in an ad-free environment to support a calm user experience.

Offline use

Core SOS and wellness features are designed to work without an internet connection once the App is installed.

4. Data Privacy and Security

• Local storage. Personal data—including journal entries, mood tracking, panic logs, and similar content—is stored on your device using encrypted local storage where applicable.
• No sale of personal data. We do not collect, sell, or transmit your journal entries, logs, or health data to our servers for marketing or sale.
• Third-party services. The App may use services such as Google Fonts (typography), and, if you opt in, analytics and crash reporting. These are described in our Privacy Policy. Analytics and crash reporting are disabled by default and require your explicit opt-in.
• Data deletion. Because data is stored locally, deleting the App will permanently remove your data from that device. We cannot recover data after the App is removed.

5. Intellectual Property and Copyright

• Ownership. All content, features, and functionality—including but not limited to the “Bio-Haptic” vibration patterns, “Truth Cards,” UI design (including Crisis-First Design), and the “Cathexis” brand—are the exclusive property of the developer or its licensors.
• Protection. The App’s implementation of core haptics, SOS flows, and other proprietary elements may be protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
• Restrictions. You may not copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App for commercial or competing purposes without express written permission.

6. License and Acceptable Use

• License grant. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Cathexis for personal, non-commercial use on a compatible device (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet), subject to these Terms.
• Termination. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the service.
• Limitation of liability. The App is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including its failure to alleviate or address specific symptoms during a crisis. Your use of the App is at your own risk.

7. Account and Sign-In

• Sign-in (e.g., Google or Apple) is optional. The App can be used without an account.
• If you sign in, you are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity under your account.
• You may delete your account and associated local data at any time through the in-App “Delete Account” option in your Profile/Settings. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

8. Changes to Terms or the App

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We may also change or discontinue features of the App with or without notice, where permitted by applicable law.
